Default Top Rated Domain Registrar......

The Best Domain Registrar.............

Since a lot of you might be new to having your own website I thought I would start a thread on Domain Registrars and Hosting sites.

All I will do here is present my opinions and what I have found to be useful in my experiences through the years.

This topic is centered on Domain Registrars and what to look out for and what is helpful.

The first thing I should mention is that when you do get a hosting account for your website you have to watch out for the free domain giveaway. Seems like every hosting company is doing it and that is fine except for one important point. And I do suggest you thoroughly check it out. And that is, who owns the domain name! It seems that some, not all, but some of these hosting companies will retain rights to the domain name and they let you borrow it for as long as you are hosting with them. Now here is where a problem can arise. Say you are not happy with the service of the hosting company where you received your free domain name and after you have spent months building up your website you decide you are going to host with someone else. Well you are in trouble if they own the domain name because they will not let you transfer it. Kind of like a little trap some of these hosts set for you. One other point, some of them give you the domain and it is yours but then you have to pay for the next year which sometimes is a lot higher price.
The bottom line is to make sure that you check whether you own the free domain they give you or if it is there property.

At one time I had over a hundred domains registered with so many different registrars that I could not even remember who 75% of them were. And worse yet, a large majority of them will not even bother to contact you when the domain is about to expire. Believe me when I tell you that you will get a lot of headaches when you try and get your domain name back after it has expired.
One thing to look for is the domain name sales pitch. $1.95 a year they advertise… Read the fine print, after the first year it might be $19.95 so you really did not save to much, did you.

After years of trial and error I have come up with what I think is one of the best Registrar out there. I will put one of their logos at the bottom of this with a link. Maybe you heard of them, godaddy.com
Their prices are more than reasonable and one of my favorite features which they have is that no matter how many domains you purchase and whether you host them with godaddy or transfer them to another host you will always know the exact status of your domains through their control panel. All you have to do is click on “My Domains”, and every domain you purchased through them is listed along with expiration dates and a slew of other information regarding any of your domains.

I for one have found this to be a great service because they let me know when domains are going to expire and just having all of my domains listed in one spot is the greatest of help to me. I have hosting accounts everywhere also and I have to tell you that I do not even bother with the free domain offers anymore just because of the low price from godaddy and I know it is my domain and I can transfer it anywhere anytime I wish coupled with the fact that it can always be found on their website.

Well I hope this helps some of you and for more info just click the image below to check out their site for yourself.
